The open-ended nature of dough as a sensory material makes the dough area a popular place for early years, EYFS children to be. Children will enjoy the challenge of manipulating the dough using a variety of tools such as rolling pins and cutters, as well as experiencing the properties of dough with their hands.
Children will soon start to make all kinds of shapes, representing objects they know such as a star, a worm or a snowman. They will also enjoy pretend baking of buns, biscuits and cakes using the set of mixed biscuit cutters, muffin cases, bun tins and cake boards, decorating them and making patterns with the coloured discs and lollypop sticks.
In early years, EYFS, children need a variety of opportunities to stimulate their investigative play mathematical and imaginative thinking. Providing a well-organised dough area with a good selection of early years equipment that can be used to manipulate the dough, will help children to develop many aspects of their learning.
Investing in an Early Excellence complete area will provide you with a rapid solution in creating an inspiring and enriching environment for your children.
