The Virtuoso A*** grade cello represents the pinnacle of the MMX range. Hand carved by master luthier Guofang Wang from selected spruce, flamed maple and ebony, the resulting instrument has been independently graded and selected for it's unmatched quality of tone, resonance and spectacular finish in the MMX range.
Once the delicate and precise process of crafting the cello is complete, layers of oil-based varnish are carefully applied by hand to provide a luscious exterior, accentuating the stunning spruce and flamed maple wood tones.
All MMX cellos are setup in our workshop to ensure that the instrument meets our standards. Since each instrument is unique, we select fine quality strings to suit the instrument but are also happy to be directed by the customer. We tend to use Larsen or Jargar strings depending on the characteristics of the instrument.

MMX has been working with master luthier Guofang Wang and his family workshop for nearly a decade, producing a broad selection of orchestral stringed instruments. For the beginner, the Student series of violins, violas, and celli offer the best start in the playing journey right through to our Signature instruments, which are perfectly at home in professional orchestral and solo work.
Each instrument is diligently cared for at every stage of the production process, ensuring incredible value for money at each price point. Attention to detail is at the heart of every MMX violin, viola, cello and double bass. The tone wood panels are sourced from the forests of Sichuan or Yunnan province and seasoned to increase their strength.
The lustrous oil-based varnish is mixed to exact specifications to create a desirable antique finish which enhances both the grain and resonance of the instrument bodies. Even the fittings used are carefully selected to suit the instrument perfectly.
From the materials used to the way they are carved, fitted, and assembled, MMX aims to deliver instruments that will surpass all expectations!
